  6. As  most  of the films being produced today re the usual run of the mill
  7. flicks  ive  decided  to review the films that are truely great,they may
  8. not  feature  the likes of sly stallone or arnie,but they`re much better
  9. films.  message to everyone at nfa-no i`m not another barry norman!

  16. Based  in  france  of  1815  this  tells  the  story  of jean val jean,a
  17. woodcutter  who`s  fed  up  of  starving and steals a loaf of bread,he`s
  18. caught  by  the  police  and  thrown  in jail for five years despite his
  19. pleas.

  21. From  here  we  see  the  brutal  truth of the prison,the guards and the
  22. prisoners  working  themselves  to  the  bone.During the film,jean who`s
  23. played by richard jordan of logans run,meets his nemisis anthony perkins
  24. of psycho fame and feuds with him,swearing he`ll escape and will one day
  25. kill him.Needless to say he escape but gets caught leading to another 10
  26. years imprisoment!!

  28. After successfully escaping the second time,he steals some silver (you`d
  29. think  he`d  learned  his  lesson) for money but is caught by the priest
  30. that  lives  there,he  lets  him have the silver and takes away the evil
  31. thoughts  from  jean,telling him that whatever he gets for the silver he
  32. must  use the money for good,jean agrees and becomes mayor of a new town
  33. unaware that the chief of police (perkins) is still out to get him.

  35. Along  the  next fifteen years we meet various people who help the story
  36. move along.

  38. A truely fantastic film which is filmed perfectly,the acting by everyone
  39. is  superb especially perkins and jordan who excell themselves,the thing
  40. you  need  to  remember  about  films like this is that its of a serious
  41. nature and joking around must be left outside the dressing room.  Get it
  42. now,even if your not a oldie fan its worth watching.
